Alright- I think we really have offically started the teething process. This week has been a little tough on Miley- at times. Wednesday I guess at Grandma's she just started screaming out of no where and no bouncing, rocking or even laying on the changing table would make her happy- it wasn't until Pam stuck her finger in her mouth and massaged her gums that she finally settled down. Nana picked Miley up that day and her and Miley went to the store and got some Tylenol and gum numb stuff to have at Grandma's house. Then on Thursday out of the blue she started up again so Grandma gave her the Tylenol and put the gel on her gums and she was happy.
Last night we went out for tacos and Miley was having an interesting evening- when we tried to pass her around so everyone could get a squeeze from her she cried, she never does that, then all of a sudden she'd be happy again and smiling and laughing then the next minute she didn't want anything to do with anyone but her mommy. So that pain must just come and go in waves for her.
I also noticed that her whole right side of her face will get all flushed and warm out of no where and the left side will be normal- she hasn't had a fever with this, its just warm to the touch. Just to make sure everything was OK and to make sure if I should be watching for something more I called the triage line and spoke to a nurse and she said her own children had that happen to them- she said that it seemed like the side that the tooth was coming on would be the side that her cheeks would get all flushed- so it must be the bottom right front tooth she is working on- that's my guess.
Poor little lamb! I feel so bad when I know she is hurting. Sometimes she'll cry and just hold her mouth but thank goodness for the gum numb because that seems to give her some good relief. Did your children experience these same symptoms?? How long after they started having symptoms like this did the tooth finally pop through?

Can you feel the tooth in there? It took Reese months to finally get her first after I first thought she was teething. Does she have a fever? Could it be an ear infection? Rowan stil doesn't have a tooth, but I can see them in there when she gets her xrays so I know she has them.....She has been showing signs of teething for 4 months too. Just feel one, but it hasn't budged....
URGH- I had a feeling this process would probably be long and drawn out.. I can feel a little bumb and hard spot on her bottom gum but we can't see anything. My mom told me to watch her ear too- there isn't any drainage and she doesn't act like it hurts- when she cries she holds her mouth or shoves her whole fist in there and if you rub her gums she acts like that is the greatest thing in the whole world. And No fever yet- just that red flushed and warm cheek seems to come and go.
I've heard that sometimes the teeth move towards the surface everyonce and a while and don't actually plan on cutting for a while. She may be teething, it's on the early side if she is. Find out when you and Taylor first got your teeth and average that for a guestamate. Sophie was teething for probably two weeks before she got her first but I noticed a whitening where the tooth was coming as it pushed blood away from the surface and redness on the outerlower sides of her gums where it was coming. Her head always felt warm with her teeth coming too. The gel never worked for us but the tylenol did.:)
Lauren ran a fever and had really bad diapers. She was also fussy, but I think everyone should be when a foreign object is trying to poke its way through tender gums. Sleep and tylenol did the trick for Lauren. I didn't feel like the Orajel worked as well as the tylenol.
Good luck... it's hard but so much fun when they smile at you with a tooth showing!
Chloe 'teethed' for a long time before her teeth finally came through. I used the gel and Tylenol too. That did the trick. Chloe slept more too. Sometimes kids teeth for a long time before they finally show up. Good luck...just remember, it'll pass. :)
