Cooper is here!

Well, after a long wait we can finally introduce you to our little slugger, Cooper James Pagel!

We arrived at the hospital at 11am on Tuesday February 9th only to be told to go walk around Red Wing for a while and if anything develops to come back in. So, Mindi and I had a great day of walking around Menards, Wal-Mart, and Target. We even went to Caribou Coffee and sat around for an hour waiting. After the long wait they asked us to come in around 5pm.

We came in and they set us up in a room. Mindi began to have some strong contractions that came as close as two to three minutes apart. We, along with the doctor thought for sure that we were going to be meeting our little one that night. Much to both our surprises though, the contractions began to spread apart and it wasn't looking good. By this time we had already had both Grandma's and Grandpa Pagel here waiting (Grandpa Bodette was at home with Miley). After things settled down, Grandpa Pagel went home and soon to follow were both Grandmas. Mindi and I decided to try and get a little sleep after that.

When we woke up in the morning Mindi and I walked around to try and get things going. This didn't work so we made the decision to hook her up to Pitocin. They only needed to give her a little and the contractions came on strong and close together. Thats when they decided to break her water and things really started to cruise along then. It happened so fast that the doctor had to ask Mindi to not push because she was not ready! All during this time Grandma and Grandpa Bodette brought Miley in and Grandma Pagel was there too.

Finally at 2:13pm, little Cooper James joined us! He weighed in at 8 lb's 1 oz's and was 20 inches long. (Miley was 8 lb's 2 oz's and 19inches long) He was happy and healthy and Miley was so excited to see him. I could hear her clapping from behind the curtain! After he was cleaned off we brought the family around the curtain to meet our little Cooper. Miley was so excited and wanted to hold him! So, we let her and we were able to get some great pictures and a little video too! She was so delicate with him, I am so glad that she is taking him in so well!

The attached videos are of Cooper just after the birth, so he is a little slimy! The second video is of Miley holding Cooper for the first time. Notice how gentle she is with him!
